Level 4 Pour of Special Collections Completed

The addition is continuing to rise out of the ground. On Friday, August 17 the major pour of Level 4 South, the new home for special collections occurred.  This area will house the the College Archives and the Chapin Library of Rare Books reading room, processing space, staff offices, an instruction room, and some of the gallery space.  This area will connect to the existing Chapin Gallery in Stetson. Fortunately, the forecasted rain and thunderstorms held off until all of the concrete was placed.  The tower crane and concrete pump/delivery rig framed the site and then the concrete placement began.

On the following Monday, the post-tension work was completed and the reinforcing steel for the columns to hold up the roof was already being placed. Note how the addition now obscures the view of the back or east side of Stetson.
